New England's newest ski area had another successful season in 2006-2007. Thanks to 100% fan-gun snowmaking technology, Crotched opens big and opens fast - their goal is to be 100% open before anyone else, if not necessarily the first to open. This aggressive approach to snowmaking and even the technology are reflective of the Midwestern roots of the company that revived the mountain a few years
Terrain
The wide-open slopes and essentially intermediate nature of the terrain invite big GS turns. Rip down Magnitude or black-diamond Pluto's Plunge arcing from one turn to another and you'll wind up at the bottom with a big smile on your face.
